    I. COLLEGE PERSONAL HEALTH RECORD 2.0
    To redesign the current IU Personal Health Record (PHR), following a user-centric approach.

    Research goals: i. Quasi-objects: To develop a theoretical understanding of PHRs as quasi-objects that can mediate interactions among individuals (patients), health providers, family members, etc.ii. Redeemed mediation: To revisit issues of privacy, security, and power in the area of health and healthcare, particularly vis-à-vis earlier understandings within Social Informatics of the risks of file sharing.iii. Personal Health Information (PHI): To apply the notion of “regimes of information” to develop an understanding of PHI as distributed and enacted in various worlds.

    Participants: IU Health Center, NoMoreClipboard.com
    The project will be part of the dissertation work of one or two doctoral students.

    II. mPower! SERIOUS HEALTH GAMES
    To use serious games to educate, engage individuals in the management of their health

    Research Goals: To design, develop, and test Serious Health Games, which consists of a suite of video games and social networking tools, including:i. Single player video games that empower college students to effectively manage their health information by educating them on the effective use of personal health records (PHRs) and management of their personal health information (PHI);ii. Single-player video games related to specific health issues that students identify from their PHRs, such as health topics connected to individual family medical history, health conditions, health behaviors, and general interests;

    Used in concert with a commercial intrusion alarm system, video monitoring can be an effective tool to improve the security in your facility and the safety of your employees. These are three types of video monitoring solutions and all can be used to improve the overall safety and security of your business, and simply knowing how video monitoring works can help you determine what solution is best for your business.

    iii. Networked communities of practice with embedded multi-player micro-games related to specific health issues;

    iv. Customizable mini-games to allow experts (i.e., health care providers and faculty) to modify games to address new health conditions or situations.

    III. KNOWLEDGE EVALUATION, INTERVENTION AND WORKFLOW
    To compare and contrast methods for measuring, visualizing, and communicating workflow to clinicians, surgeons, nurses, patients, and others.

    Research goals:a. To compare and contrast the unique contributions and limitations of alternate approaches to capture, elicit, and develop representations of historical and real-time workflow knowledge using a variety of informatics and engineering techniques;b. To compare and contrast the contributions and limitations of information mined from a variety of information technology and communication systems that support healthcare delivery operations as knowledge acquisition methods;

    c. To evaluate whether the methods of (1), together with the data of (2), are sufficient to satisfy key requirements for representation and utilization of clinical workflow knowledge to support advanced real-time decision making, system optimization, as well as human and machine performance enhancement.
